Skateboard mania at Cane & Grain

Skateboard mania at Cane & Grain

Skaters at heart gather at Cane & Grain, industrial-style bar in Manchester, to share a pint or cocktail as a nod to pop culture.

Under the red brick facade, the sign brings tattoo parlours to mind. In the heart of Northern Quarter, the trendy Cane & Grain bar plays the nostalgic 1980s “skate” vibe. The decoration is reminiscent of industrial lofts, with period posters hung everywhere. Custom skateboards have been scattered around, serving as works of art. This sense of pop culture can be traced into the cocktail menu: Shaun of the Dead (gin, grapes, apple, lemon and passion fruit syrup) as a reference to the famous zombie spoof, the Radioactive Man (mezcal, Midori, Pimento Dram, lemon, lime and Curaçao) in tribute to the fictitious Simpsons superhero, or The Leap of Faith (rum, Curaçao, grapes, lime and cucumber), a cult skating figure. Wear your coolest sneakers, a stylish hoodie on your back and you will be more than ready to fit in!
